WELLNESS SERIES WITH NORWALK HOSPITAL CAN YOUR HEART STAND THE PRESSURE?
Part two of the Wellness Series will be held on Monday, February 27th. The topic of the workshop is, "Can Your Heart Stand The Pressure". This multi-part series is led by Barbara Schmidt MS, RD, CDN, and the Nutrition Lifestyle Program Specialist at Norwalk Hospital.
Barbara Schmidt has been on staff at The New York Hospital Cornell Medical Center, NYU Medical Center and The American Fitness Institute. She is a Nutrition Consultant for the Women’s Health Care of New England, Personal Training Professionals and The Greenwich Department of Health Promotion and Education. Barbara provides medical nutrition therapy to include the treatment of heart disease, hypertension, diabetes, cancer, gastrointestinal disorders and weight control. She has worked with a number of local health departments in Connecticut designing and teaching programs in reducing dietary fat intake, weight control, osteoporosis prevention, feeding our children better, and women’s health issues, for corporate and community settings.
Barbara will provide you with the tools to lower your blood pressure and reduce your risk of heart disease. you will learn what hypertension is and who is at risk. You will learn how to establish healthy habits, shaking out the salt, decode food labels for sodium and the importance of reducing body weight.

If touching your toes is only in your dreams: If sitting on the floor is a challenge; If you think "OM" means "Oh My!" If you think doing yoga means becoming a pretzel;
This may be the class for you!!!
"Yoga for the Rest of Us"is a workshop for those who may be intimidated to join any of the regularly scheduled yoga classes. Whether you sit at a desk all day, or are a super-athlete that never finds time to stretch, or maybe you just have a little trouble walking around the block, this is the perfect workshop for you. Gail will take you through a variety of simple postures using lots of props focusing on alignment, flexibility and balance.
