Special Needs Aquatics

The Darien YMCA is committed to serving all members of the community. We do our best to accommodate all individuals with special needs into our programs. If you or a member of your family requires additional assistance or has a special circumstance, please let us know. For all swim classes below, please call Jim Matthews at 655-8228 x 1332 prior to registering so that we can discuss your child’s special needs and swimming experience.
All participants must register on-line or at the front desk. Many of our classes have maximums and we want to make sure we stay within our ratios.

Session Dates: March 13 – June 18

Special Needs Swim Lessons Ages 3 – 12

The Y’s learn-to-swim program for children ages 3 – 12 with developmental disabilities. Please call Jim Matthews prior to registering, so we can learn about your child’s special needs and swimming experience, at (203) 655-8228 ext. 1332.

Members: $245, Non-Members: $350

Saturday Swim Club Ages 10-20

This club is intended for children that are comfortable in the large pool. Twenty-five minutes are spent on group activities that include stroke development. Twenty-five minutes are spent on free swim.

Saturdays from 12:45-1:30 PM

Members: $245, Non-Members $350

Aquatic Exercise Program

Using the soothing properties of the water, our specially trained therapists will perform aquatic exercises and activities with your child. All sessions will be offered 1-on-1, and consist of 45 minutes of exercise with an additional 15 minutes allotted for warm up, cool down, and post-session consultation with parents.

Four 60-minute sessions: $400
