Please note our schedule for Camp 2012.  

Pre-School Camp:  Begins on Monday, June 18th and runs 8 weeks to Friday, August 10th.

School Age Camp:  Begins on Monday, June 25th and runs 7 weeks to Friday, August 10th.

Gymnastics Camp:  Begins on Monday, June 25th and runs 7 weeks to Friday, August 10th.

 

We will offer Mini-Camp for School Age and Gymnastics Camp for any days during the week of June 18th - 22nd that Darien Public Schools are not in session.  Registration for Mini-Camp will begin in April.

Darien YMCA Summer Camps

The Darien YMCA Summer Day Camp offers a variety of programs to meet the needs of various age groups and the interests of all it’s participants. Our Pre-School Camp activities are held at the YMCA site. The School-Age Camp is located at one of the local elementary schools and children are shuttled to the YMCA for various activities. Afternoon Navigators is offered as an extension to the Gymnastics Camp, as well as a great program for children attending Summer School and children who are interested in just an afternoon program.

The Darien YMCA Camp Staff believe that each summer activity not only teaches skills, but also teaches caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility; all values of the YMCA. The camp is organized and run by Darien YMCA professional directors. Summer staff members are carefully selected on the basis of their experience, qualifications and caring for children. We welcome children of all abilities.

Camp Registration 

All registration can be done on-line at www.darien-ymca.org or at the front desk based on the dates listed below. If you do not yet have an on-line account with the YMCA, please set one up at least one week prior to registration. To set up an on-line account, go to the YMCA website and follow the prompts under on-line registration. For help call 655-8228.
  1. Returning Campers/ Darien YMCA Members:
    Registration begins on Thursday, February 2, 2012 at 10:00 AM and is open until Monday, February 6, 2012. This is for returning 2011 campers and their siblings with current memberships only. If you are registering a sibling who did not attend camp previously, you must come to the YMCA to register. On-line registration will not be available to that sibling.

  2. New Campers/ Darien YMCA Members/ Darien Residents:
    Registration begins on Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at 10:00 AM

  3. New Campers/ Darien YMCA members/ Non-Residents:
    Registration begins on Thursday, February 9, 2012 at 10:00 AM.

  4. Non-Members:
    Registration begins on Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at 10:00 AM
 

Camp Refund Policy

  • A participant canceling before May 1st will receive a refund or on-line credit less a $50 charge per session cancelling.
  • A participant canceling after May 1st will receive a refund or on-line credit less a 30% charge per session cancelling
  • A participant canceling after June 1st will receive an on-line credit only less a 30% charge per session cancelling
  • If participant cancels after the 1st day of a session, no refund will be given.

**Please note:  if you receive Financial Assistance and/or are on a payment plan, you will still be charged the above cancellation fees.  Your payments will be adjusted to reflect these fees.

Registration Guidelines

  • Children who are members of the Darien YMCA or who have parents who are YMCA members will receive priority registration due to a ruling by the Darien Planning and Zoning Commission.
  • Our 8 week discount only applies if you are registering your child for 4 sessions of the same camp.
  • A non-member fee of $50 per session will be added to the cost for all members.
  • Determine correct camp placement by noting what grade in school the child has just completed.
  • Please be sure to fill out the Summer Camp Emergency/Registration form either on-line or at the front desk. Clearly identify which sessions and camper group you want for each child registered.  NO CHILD CAN PARTICIPATE IN CAMP WITHOUT A REGISTRATION FORM ON FILE.
  • Immunization forms are available at the front desk and must be completed prior to the start of camp. Camp reservations will be cancelled if this form is not on file and no camper can be accepted into camp without these forms.  NO CHILD CAN PARTICIPATE IN CAMP WITHOUT A MEDICAL FORM ON FILE.
  • Parents Manual and Camp T-shirts for Pre-School and School Age Camps are available on May 19th.
  • If your child will be attending Extended Care, a Credit Card Authorization form must be filled out.  All payments will be processed at the end of each session.
